About Us
Same heart, new road ahead
where the road began
Every great road has a beginning. For Great Roads Brewing, that beginning was a homebrew and a name inspired by love. Founder Keith Forbes began brewing at home, eventually naming his dream brewery after his wife. What started as a passion project soon grew into something bigger.
In 2019, Keith and longtime friend Chris took the leap into commercial brewing, opening Ol’ Biddy’s Brewhouse at 111 Cobequid Road. Just weeks after opening their doors, the world changed. Launching a brewery at the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic brought challenges no one could have planned for—but the beer kept flowing, and the vision stayed intact.
a new road ahead
In 2023, the brewery entered its next chapter when Keith and Chris passed the torch to new owner Andrew. With new ownership came a new name chosen to reflect growth, possibility, and the many paths that brought people together over a pint.
Importantly, the beer itself never lost its soul. Rob, who had been brewing alongside Keith and Chris, stayed on to continue crafting the beers customers had come to love. Familiar flavours, refined techniques, and a renewed sense of purpose carried the brewery forward.
That same year, the taproom moved within the strip mall to its originally intended, pre-pandemic location—transforming Great Roads into the full taproom and brewpub experience it was always meant to be.
brewed here, shared widely

Today, most of our beers and ciders are brewed in-house, surrounded by the towering fermentation vessels that define the space and quietly do the real work behind every pour.
While beer is at the heart of Great Roads, our taps reflect a broader love for Nova Scotia craft. You’ll also find local wines and craft spirits, along with a rotating guest tap that showcases small breweries from around the province—because great roads are better when they connect us.
more than a brewery
Great Roads Brewing is built on history, friendship, and resilience, but it’s also built for right now. It’s a place to gather, to try something new, to enjoy something familiar, and to support the people who make this community what it is.
The name may have changed, but the heart behind the beer hasn’t. You’re always welcome here, wherever your road started.
